Bandit & Amber

Amber is Gone

This page is dedicated to my Australian Shepherd AMBER.
She is the light and the love of my life and has been since she was 2 days old. That is when we met and chose each other as friends for life. Well it seems that one of our life times is ending. I am designing this page today, October 9, 2002. Eight days ago she was diagnosed with cancer and she doesn't have long I'm told. Not even to the end of this year. How hard that was to hear.
How do you let go of such a pal? How smart she is. What fun she is. How obedient she is. What a beautiful love she is.

She sure is trying to stay awhile though. Courageous. Instead of losing weight, she is putting on weight. 65.5 lbs. today. She is definitely trying to do her part. She is eating well, drinking her water well, pooping well, taking her medicine well like the champion that she is. My tears come, but they have to go when I watch her bravery. She's one tough chick. I can be no less.

I've been talking to her and I asked her to do me a big favor and stay to help me train a puppy. She loves puppies. She also loves them to go home after she's had her fill. Oh but she can train. She trained Bandit. He's our little rescue Terrier Mix. He tries doing everything that he watches her do. My great back-up. What a girl!

She is so valiant. She is teaching me to love more than I already knew how. That is a marvelous thing.

Just to show you how much she loved us, Ron and me, and how well she listened and always wanted to please, she did stay long enough to help train our new puppy,

AJNA

YOU WILL BE FOREVER OUR AMBER.

The beautiful piano that you hear is being played by my dear friend Ben Lewis.
I let Ben know what was happening to my Amber and he wrote this beautiful song for her and sent it to me.
He said as he wrote it that he was trying to imagine her being a joyful presence in my life,
as well as a playful one, and despite her illness a spirit at peace.
How fortunate I am to be able to feel this lucky and loved and to have such a wonderful friend. Thank you Ben.
